Yesterday we had our first Montreal NewTech meetup at Brutopia. It wasn’t an official meetup and we had no demos, but it was a great time with some Montreal tech enthusiasts. We had about 10 people talking about technology and projects they’re working on.

On a personal level, it was great for me to meet some people on my second day in Montreal. So, if you couldn’t make it yesterday, there’s still lot of opportunities to get involved in the Montreal Tech community!

The first BitNorth Conference is another tech event happening in the Montreal area. It will take place on the weekend of September 5-7 in Lake MacDonald, QC.

In their words: “The format of the event is collaborative; attendees are expected to contribute. Everyone has to be prepared to present for 10 minutes, moderate, show a video, or participate in a panel surrounding the theme; then the organizers pick the presentations and content from what’s submitted. We’re hoping this will lead to lots of people with strong opinions and great discussion.”

This event is organized by Bitcurrent, Syntenic, IDG Communications, Flow Consulting and Akoha.

We just created a Montreal NewTech Facebook group, so if you’re a Facebook user, please join us there and invite your friends/colleagues too.

We have also added some other tech/entrepreneur events happening in Montreal in the next weeks on the left. If you’re hosting an event or know about another one, please let us know.
