Tungle Demo

Here’s Tungle’s Demo at the Montreal NewTech Meetup October 08. Sorry about the video/sound quality. Below is a note from Jacou Sarrazin, Tungle’s Product Manager.

Tungle is scheduling software that enhances your calendar, making it the ultimate scheduling solution. It does not replace your calendar, it works hand-in-hand with it, enabling you to coordinate meetings with people inside or outside your company in just a few clicks - whether they are a Tungle user or not. Using unique syncing technology, Tungle manages your schedule for you. All you do is propose meeting times, and the hassles of finding a time that works for everyone, avoiding double booking, and updating your calendar are handed off to Tungle.

Tungle supports Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple iCal and Entourage for Mac.

Brownbook.net Demo

Here’s Brownbook.net’s Demo at the Montreal NewTech Meetup October 08. Sorry about the video/sound quality. Below is a note from Basil Berntsen, Brownbook’s Canadian Community Manager.

Business directory services are one of the most lucrative advertising businesses, despite the high overheads of managing and maintaining their core data, running large sales forces, IT departments, order entry teams… but for business owners it’s difficult and time-consuming to make updates, and it takes considerable time for updates to take effect. For smaller businesses it’s too expensive to advertise or promote their businesses, they have no control over how their listings are maintained, and many of today’s SOHO businesses never even make it into existing business directories. For users there is no indication of the reputation of suppliers, and no way to provide their own feedback, correct obvious mistakes that they see, or add additional useful information.

Brownbook applies the concepts of peer-production and wikis to revolutionize the business directory market. By harnessing the power and principles of wikis, user generated content, social media and social networking it creates a business directory service that:

  • becomes the most up to date and comprehensive
  • puts the power, production and feedback into the hands of the users
  • is the simplest, quickest, and best value-for-money for advertisers
  • removes massive cost from the traditional production cycle

Thank you!

I’d like to thank you all for coming to the first Montreal NewTech meetup tonight at Station-C. For those of you who missed it, I’ll be posting the demos soon.

We had three great demos tonight, and hopefully we’ll continue to showcase other cool Montreal startups every month. Our next meetup will be either on Nov 4th or 11th. I’ll update the group page when we know for sure. For now, there are a few things you could do to contribute to the Montreal tech community:

  • Participate! There are several other networking events in Montreal. Start going to some of them and get involved in the community.
  • Tell people what you’re working on. If you’d like to demo your product/startup at the next NewTech, please email me at demo@mtlnewtech.com.
  • If you’re a blogger, photographer, video blogger, write about the startups who demo as well as other interesting people you meet in these events.
I want this event to continue to be free for all of us, so I’m going to be looking for sponsors for next month. If you want to contribute your 2 cents to the tech community, please get in touch with me. It’s a great opportunity to talk about your company too.
See you all next month!

MTL NewTech is a Meetup.com and Upcoming.org groups. Join us over there too!
